Why not treat yourself this weekend to these delicious parmesan cheese scones. Perfect for afternoon tea, a picnic or to eat alongside a soup.
Ingredients
- 450g self-raising flour
- 110g butter, cubed
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic granules
- 1 tsp onion granules
- 1 tbsp mixed herbs
- 50g Parmesan cheese, plus a little extra for sprinkling
- 300ml whole milk
- 1 egg, for glazing
Method
- Preheat the multifunction oven (fan setting) or fan oven to 200 °C.
- Lightly grease two baking sheets.
- Put the flour and butter into a bowl and rub together with your fingertips until it is a breadcrumb like texture.
- Add the baking powder, salt, garlic granules, onion granules, herbs and cheese and mix through really well.
- Make a well in the centre and pour in all the milk, then bring the dough together into one large mound.
- Separate the dough to create 18 equal balls.
- Place the balls on a baking trays a few centimetres apart and flatten the top slightly with the palm of your hand.
- Brush with egg, sprinkle with Parmesan and bake for 12–15 minutes.
